2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS IN TODAY'S FLEETS

  • Speaker: Bill Rouse, L.A. Yellow Cab Co-Op, Gardena, California

  • Description: Many fleet operators have shifted their business model to contract work requiring drivers to meet certain requirements. This can challenge fleet operators working in the traditional Independent Contractor model for On-Demand/Taxi fleets. Conversely, traditional NEMT operators are looking at ways to provide more on-demand services to their clients and are exploring if the IC model will work for their businesses. The current Administration’s proposed new criteria for determining if a company meets the IC requirements are thrown into this chaotic mix. This session will interest fleet operators working with IC drivers, considering whether to stay with IC drivers or thinking about converting to IC drivers.

3:15 PM - 4:00 PM: DIGITIZATION'S IMPACT ON FLEET OPERATIONS

  • Speakers: Tarek Mallah, Global Head Channel Development, Curb Mobility and Kevin French, CEO North America, iCabbi, Atlanta, GA

  • Description: The trend is moving toward digitization of information. Every aspect of your business can now be captured in data format and used to improve your operations, from the data output on your vehicles’ OBD2 ports to your AI-generated driver behavior scores. All your trip information data (GPS, time stamps, verification, etc.) is captured in your various software tools. Hear from some industry experts how you can use this data to get real-time, in-depth visibility into your operations, and then take that knowledge to run at peak efficiency.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS BY PARTNERING WITH GOVERNMENT

  • Speaker: Joe Rubino, J.M. Rubino Transit Consulting

  • Description: In this session, participants will learn how to design and propose a MicroTransit Service to their local transit agency as a pilot project. The session will also provide examples of existing MicroTransit services nationwide, including those operated by TTA members. Additionally, participants will discover how to engage in local Paratransit contracts either as a primary operator or subcontractor and learn strategies to enhance their local profile for competing with national companies in Request for Proposals (RFPs). Moreover, the session will cover partnering opportunities with local government or Human Service Agencies to apply for 5310 Grant Funds, and tactics for building relationships with existing grant recipients for mutual benefit.
