Happy March and Welcome to this Month’s President’s Update

By: Dan Reid, President/Managing Member, Grove Transit

I want to start by once again highlighting the many opportunities available to you to participate in TTA events in the coming months.  Your participation is key to you realizing a positive ROI on your investment in a TTA membership.  Last month I joined other operator members from across the country to attend the first open house at VIP Taxi in Phoenix, Arizona.  This event was made possible through the sponsorship of Paratransit Insurance.  I can only hope other attendees came away with a head full of ideas to implement as I did.  We also trained several attendees to become Certified Stretcher Operator Instructors, so they can now train other employees back home to be a Certified Stretcher Operator.

While in Phoenix, and at the encouragement of Dave Gauer, CEO, VIP Taxi, I took my first ride in a Waymo autonomous vehicle.  Among the many thoughts going through my mind was the confirmation that TTA needs to be focused on this cutting-edge technology to understand how it will change our industry, and how we can Drive Value to Our Members by ensuring our members can capitalize on the changes brought by AV technology.

TTA remains focused on all the goings on in DC.  Paul Miller has been actively monitoring the ever-changing environment to make sure we stay current on events ranging from concerns over drastic cuts to Medicaid to improving the regulations for Independent Contractors.  We are also constantly monitoring and re-evaluating our current legislative agenda, as well as preparing for the Legislative Fly-In next month (see information below).  Paul and his staff also keep us informed on issues that impact us as business owners, such as the recent legislative update on the recission of enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (see reprint below).

Finally, I hope you take the time to review all the upcoming events listed below. But before you do, please be sure to complete our short member survey.  We want better insight into the services our operating members provide passengers, so we’ve prepared this short survey for you to complete. This survey is intended to be easy for you to answer without having to audit your books, please feel free to provide educated estimates for your answers.  You can win a trip to Vegas for Mobilize 2025 by completing the survey.

I look forward to hearing from, and talking to, you in the coming months.  If you have any questions about TTA, the value of our membership, or how to participate, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at dan@grovetransit.com

Your President.

Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) announced yesterday that it is ceasing enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA).

The Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) announced yesterday that it is ceasing enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) while it crafts a new set of regulations that will ultimately narrow the scope of the reporting regime. It’s a huge win for Main Street, particularly as the CTA’s reporting requirements were scheduled to take effect once again beginning March 21.

Follow this link for the text of FinCEN’s release.  Key points from the release:

  • FinCEN announced that it will not issue any fines or penalties or take any other enforcement actions against any companies based on any failure to file or update beneficial ownership information (BOI) reports pursuant to the Corporate Transparency Act by the current deadlines. No fines or penalties will be issued, and no enforcement actions will be taken, until a forthcoming interim final rule becomes effective and the new relevant due dates in the interim final rule have passed.

  • No later than March 21, 2025, FinCEN intends to issue an interim final rule that extends BOI reporting deadlines, recognizing the need to provide new guidance and clarity as quickly as possible, while ensuring that BOI that is highly useful to important national security, intelligence, and law enforcement activities is reported.

  • FinCEN also intends to solicit public comment on potential revisions to existing BOI reporting requirements.

Registration is Open on These Events:
