WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 24, 2025, The Transportation Alliance (TTA) proudly celebrates the introduction of House Resolution 318, which designates the week of April 24–29, 2025, as “Small Businesses in For-Hire Transportation Week.” Introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, this resolution recognizes the vital contributions of more than 18,300 locally owned and operated transportation businesses that serve communities nationwide.

These small businesses provide over 2 billion rides annually and employ over 1 million individuals, including 276,250 drivers, with approximately 50% of the workforce identifying as minorities. From non-emergency medical transportation and paratransit to taxicab and shuttle services, the for-hire transportation sector is critical in ensuring mobility for millions, especially vulnerable and underserved populations.

With this national recognition, TTA is hosting its 2025 Legislative Fly-In next week in Washington, D.C., bringing transportation leaders nationwide to meet with lawmakers and advocate for policies supporting the industry's continued success and sustainability.

“This resolution is a powerful acknowledgment of the essential role that small for-hire transportation businesses play in our communities,” said TTA President Dan Reid. “We’re honored to celebrate this milestone while our members are on Capitol Hill, actively shaping the future of transportation policy.”

TTA extends heartfelt thanks to the partners of this year’s Legislative Fly-In, whose support ensures that small business voices are represented in Washington:
