North to the Future: Transportation Operators Head to Alaska for TLPA Mid-Year International Leadership Conference in July

For-hire transportation fleet operators will head to Alaska from July 12 to 15 for the annual leadership conference hosted by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA).

(Rockville, MD) - The TLPA Mid-Year International Leadership Conference hosted in Anchorage, Alaska, kicks off with a cocktail reception for all attendees on July 12. The following day, July 13, will feature two General Sessions and a breakfast and lunch open to all attendees. The TLPA will also hold a board meeting on July 14.

This is the first time in more than two decades that the TLPA has hosted a meeting in Alaska. The conference will be held at the distinctive Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage. With views of Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains, the distinctive Hotel Captain Cook was recently inducted into the Historic Hotels of America, the official travel organization of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

There is a special room rate for attendees of $260 per night. The room block expires on June 10 or when it sells out, whichever comes first. Attendees are encouraged to book their travel early.

For those who wish to extend their stay in Alaska, America’s largest state offers myriad sightseeing opportunities, where visitors can view wildlife, pan for gold, or fish for salmon in Alaska’s fabled rivers. Explore the beauty of Alaska from a cruise right from Anchorage to see glaciers and whales, or head north to Denali National Park, home to moose, caribou, bears, and dall sheep, a scenic five-hour drive away.

“Alaska’s official motto is ‘North to the Future,’ and that couldn’t be more appropriate for this conference,” said TLPA President Bill Scalzi. “This is where we can learn from the experience of major industry leaders as we chart our future. This is always one of the most intimate gatherings of any TLPA event, and it’s where participants can rub elbows with some of the brightest and most successful operators I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.”

All participants must register for the conference by June 10. There is no on-site registration. For more information or to register, go to You can also follow the meeting on Facebook and Twitter with #FleetForward.

Operators who are new to TLPA can now take advantage of a 50% discount on membership dues for 2017. More information may be found on the TLPA website at
